THE GAME

Even if Konami lost all interest in making proper Castlevania games, Dracula’s Castle can’t be kept in the void forever. It just so happens, that this time fans were the ones to aid in its return.

It was originally envisioned as a “demake” of Castlevania II: Simon’s Quest but eventually turned into an original independent game for ZX Spectrum.

Castlevania: Spectral Interlude is an action-adventure platform game with elements of RPG. It merges well-known elements of classic games with some new ideas. It tells a new story that tries to remain consistent with the canon of the original franchise and explains why Belmonts disappeared for many years.

CONTROLS

You can control the main character using QAOP or WASD key set. Control type can be changed in Settings – Controls menu.

For QAOP key set:

Q – Up, jump, enter the door
A – Down, duck, use statue, object, altar
A+A – Down, duck, use statue, object, altar
O – Left
P – Right
SPACE – Down, duck, use statue, object, altar
M – Down, duck, use statue, object, altar
1 – Previous weapon
2 – Next weapon
0 – Game map
H – Exit to the main menu, skip dialog

For WASD key set:

(This set is more suitable for gamepads or PC keyboard and it is closer to original Castlevania game controls.)

W – Up, enter the door
S – Down, duck, use statue, object, altar
A – Left
D – Right
M – Jump
S+M – Jump from ladder or platform
SPACE – Use whip, read sings and messages, talk to a character
W+SPACE – Secondary weapon
Q – Previous weapon
E – Next weapon
0 – Game map
H – Exit to the main menu, skip dialog
