Rabbits, Gold, and Old-School Hardcore: Meet "The Tale of Rabbits"

A year ago, the ZX Evolution team rolled out Lone Lunner. We remember being glad back then that someone had finally made a proper, beautiful Lode Runner for the Spectrum, rather than those dreary monochrome creations we were used to in the '90s.
And now, suddenly — a sequel. Meet The Tale of Rabbits.
The core remains classic: run around, collect gold (now carrots!), dig holes, escape from enemies. But the guys didn't just redraw the sprites. This is a full-fledged sequel on the same clever engine that runs on two seemingly different platforms at once: the Western ZX Spectrum Next and the Eastern TS Conf.
Honestly, it's this technical aspect that grabs me the most. Getting these two machines to play nice is a non-trivial task, and the fact that the guys keep polishing their cross-platform engine commands respect. This isn't just "another game"; it's proof that scenes can be united.
What's inside:
I genuinely don't know how the developers have the patience to code for retro platforms in 2026, but the result is worth it. If you have a Next or a Conf, you simply can't skip this.
Where to get it and how to support: The game is already available on ZX Online. I strongly recommend buying it there. First, it's cheaper. Second, no payment issues — Robokassa happily accepts both foreign and Russian cards, you can pay via foreign Volet, and even with crypto. There's also a version on itch.io, but the price is higher there (since commissions and transfers eat up a lot of money on the way to the authors).
So download it, play it, and don't say later that you weren't warned about the difficulty. And write the authors a few kind words — enthusiasm is expensive these days.
By the way, the guys from ZX Evolution have started their own Telegram channel — you can drop by. Their new masterpiece is actively nearing completion — an RTS game for ZX Spectrum Next and TS Conf. It's unclear yet how it will play, but it already looks awesome.
You can support them as before on Boosty.
Stay tuned, it's going to get even more interesting!
